Dr. Janina Luciano - Lead Veterinarian

Grand Animal Hospital is excited to welcome Dr. Janina Luciano as our incoming Lead Veterinarian.

Dr. Luciano earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine after completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors at Rochester Institute of Technology. Before pursuing veterinary medicine, she spent several years in biomedical research, contributing to multiple peer-reviewed scientific publications—an experience that continues to shape her evidence-based approach to patient care.

Over the past decade, Dr. Luciano has practiced small animal medicine in both Illinois and California, caring for everything from routine wellness visits to urgent medical cases, dentistry, surgery, and hospitalized patients. She has a special clinical interest in dermatology, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery, and is passionate about continually expanding her knowledge to provide the highest standard of care.

As Lead Veterinarian, Dr. Luciano is committed to building a culture centered on exceptional medicine, collaboration, and compassionate patient care. She believes every pet deserves individualized treatment, every client deserves honest communication, and every visit should reflect the trust families place in their veterinary team. While she strives for excellence in medicine, she also believes veterinary care should be delivered with warmth, kindness, and genuine joy. Her love for animals shines through in every interaction, and she considers it a privilege to care for the pets entrusted to her.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Luciano enjoys spending time with her family, exploring Southern California, traveling, and making memories with her wife and two young children. At home, she's kept busy by her French Bulldog and her cat, and she has a particular soft spot for brachycephalic breeds.
